    School of Chinese Language and Literature is the Chinese Department of Liaoning Normal University, which has developed to School of Chinese Language and Literature. From 1951, it began to recruit three-year junior college students and to enroll undergraduates from 1958. It become independent in 1951, establishing Chinese Department and was named School of Chinese Language and Literature in 2003. It now has four undergraduate majors including Chinese Language and Literature (normal), Advertising, Journalism, Chinese International Education (normal), which requires study of 4 school years and then will give a bachelor’s degree. Among them, the Chinese Language and Literature Major is bachelor demonstration in Liaoning province. There are more than one thousand full-time undergraduate students in school. Eight secondary disciplines can award a master's degree, namely Literary Theory, Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature, Comparative Literature and World literature, China Ancient Literature, Chinese Language Philology, Ancient Documentary, Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, Theory of Curriculum and Teaching Methodology (Chinese). A secondary discipline can award PhD is Modern and Contemporary Chinese Literature, and the discipline is also a key subject of Liaoning province. There are more than 400 full-time PhD and master's graduate students in school. It has formed a multi-level, multi-type and open educational pattern.

    The school now has four departments, 10 teaching and research sections and eight research institutes. There are 68 staff, including 18 professors, 20 associate professors, 4 doctoral supervisors, 30 master tutors. Liaoning Writing Society, Dalian Ming and Qing Dynasty Novel Research Center, Liaoning Normal University Institute of Ancient Books are all linked in the School of Chinese Language and Literature. Over the years, School of Chinese Language and Literature always gives the top priority to teaching, actively run the school of "wide basis, high quality, special features, wide adaptation" mode of talent training, attaches great importance to the teaching reform and actively explore new train of thought and the educational reform to improve the teaching quality. School of Chinese Language and Literature makes great efforts to cultivate the students' professional ability. Our school successively won the first prize in Provincial Teaching Achievement, a number of first prizes for Field Teaching Achievement. There are two provincial excellent courses, many school excellent curricula. For many years, it has been rated Advanced Unit for School Teaching Management.

    The scientific research strength in recent years has improved. Our teachers have published many academic papers in Chinese Social Science, Literature Review, Literary Heritage, Chinese Language, Foreign Literature Review, The Studies of Literature and Art, the People's Daily, Guangming Daily and other national authoritative newspapers. These papers have been reprinted by Xinhua Digest and photocopied by the Journal of Renmin University of China. Every year, a higher level of monographs, translations, textbooks came out.  Our school currently bears more than 20 national and provincial level research projects. Scientific research total bear all the top 20 colleges for several years.
